Ireland

Cliffs of Moher (Part I)

Please ignore this goofy grin, it’s just my cheesy excited face. The Cliffs of Moher was about a mile walk from the B&B that we stayed with, and they aren’t kidding when they tell you to bundle up. I knew it was going to be windy, and being easily chilled I made sure to go prepared. (I’m wearing three layers, at least.)

(I photographed this because I thought it was funny you could just buy beer at the snack bar.)

First time commenter. Your photos of Ireland are truly beautiful. It looks like you had the country all to yourself. Im sure you hear this all the time but your hair colour is divine <3

I work at a drugstore and you can buy beer, wine & liquor there. The hours are strange though. From 3am-7am you cannot purchase alcohol. Starting 3am Sunday morning, you cannot purchase alcohol again until Monday morning at 7am.

    Strange, huh?

Seeing the beer among the snacks didn’t register as strange with me at all. I guess I lived in Europe for too long!

The photo of you on the cliff is so incredibly beautiful in its own way, but it also reminded me of one of my favorite paintings–Wanderer above the Sea of Fog

I had to look that up because I’m not entirely too familiar with paintings but I’m so glad you shared- it’s beautiful!

Curious about your beer snack bar photo – does Canada have weird beer laws about where alcohol can be sold? I only ask because Oregon has some laws that caught us off guard, even though we don’t drink, but coming from California we’re just used to seeing alcohol being sold EV-ERY-WHERE.

Haha, yes! You can only buy alcohol at LCBO stores (or in licensed restaurants) and they have very strict hours, etc. Tom said he was so shocked to see you could get a six pack at the local grocery store. We’re not drinkers either, so it’s not something that we really notice, until you’re somewhere else and it’s everywhere, of course!

(My sister tells me in Germany you can buy a pint of beer at the movies before your show.)

These are beautiful. I check in every single day to see what’s new. Ireland holds a special place in my heart because my grandmother went for a month’s vacation directly before she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer over eight years ago. I’ve made it my goal to go back one day. These photos just make the urge even stronger.

Thanks so much, Sarah! I’m trying to get better at posting on a daily basis (except on the weekend) so thanks for the encouragement. Ireland really was beautiful and I think when you go back it will be a very special experience for you.
