A Summer Walk To The Thrift Shop

Funny story for you. This Christmas past I pulled a secret Harriet-The-Spy-move and logged into my mum’s Amazon account (whoa, hold on spy catchers- I already had her permission for when I wanted to buy things and ship them to the good ‘ol US of A with her awesome Amazon Prime shipping) to take a peek at her wishlist so I could surprise her with some things from it. Well, much to my surprise when I logged in her recommendations and wishlist were filled with nazi paraphernalia. Yikes! I decided not to buy from her wishlist, of course. But also decided not to mention my findings. Later I told her that I would be logging on in order for gifts to be shipped directly and she immediately blurted, “Oh, crap. Don’t freak out about the nazi stuff, we’re doing the Sound of Music.”

You see, she runs a children’s theatre company, so of course we had a good laugh about that. And that doesn’t really have anything to do with this post, except these photos are from an antique shop last summer (my hair!) and when I saw the helmet it made me think of that story. You can also see some photos from Tom from this day, if you haven’t already!
